As most notes indicated on CT, I agree that this has not shut down and is drinking really well after 4 hours of double decant. I compared single and double decant. Double decant 4 hours brings out the bouquet more and smooths out the wine better. Excellent concentration, aroma and taste. Barolo at it's best.

Double decanted for 2 hours then back to rinsed bottle to restaurant. Dark purple. Classic Bordeaux nose with tertiary notes. Taste, great complexity. Bouquet and taste were both haunting. Stored since release, ordered thru Bordeaux future. Well worth the effort and patience. Had it with 1990 Lagrange from a very generous friend. They were similar in taste and bouquet but the the LB was a notch above.
This Barbaresco is still young, if you can call an almost 30 y. o. wine. I have the idea that Barbarescos are supposed to be more early drinking, this wine completely changed my perception of Barolo and Barbaresco. It took 5 hours of double decanting. Barely brown. Still quite dark for a nebbiolo. Before I opened it I was so afraid that it would be over the hill. We start drinking at about 1 1/2 hrs after decanting and it was already starting to offer really nice nose, which I thought would have been ample time, it became so much more perfumed at 5 hours. This wine was purchased at the chateau 3 months ago.

7/10/2023 4:06:00 PM - On glass shape, a friend of mine with a much better palate than me has the Riedel Red Burg shape as his go to for many wines other than Pinot Noir based ones, including Grenache based, cooler climate Shiraz/Syrah and Barolo. I find the shape really messes with me, other than for Pinot, for which I think it excellent. I prefer the Bordeaux shape for Barolo and the Syrah shape for all Shiraz/Syrah and also for Grenache based. I wonder if shape of nose, face impact this, or perhaps his olfactory senses are more developed than mine?
By the way, that 2019 Vigna del Sorbo continues to grow in memory. I am very glad I went and bought half a dozen - a big spend for me. I think it will want at least 10 years before it starts to show its best, but I think its best will be magnificent.
I had a look at your TN's - I love the 3 Leoville estates. I haven't tried much of the 2000 vintage, though. You write a good note, so you should be writing a few more!
