Medium gold colour. On the nose there is honeysuckle, stewed pear and hints of citrus. The body is full and the texture is rich and unctuous. But to keep things nicely balanced there is a lively mineral streak boosted by a jolt of acidity. Very complex wine with notes of melon, pear and citrus coming through on the finish. There is a lovely richness to the texture. Delicious wine and exceptionally good value. www.advinetures.ca

Golden straw colour. Lots of baking bread notes on the nose. Apple and citrus flavours gain added complexity from the honey and almond notes. This wine has wonderful texture, a smooth richness that is defined and precise. Gentle mousse (4.5 bar) adds to the sensation of smoothness. A big step up from yellow label. www.advinetures.ca

2002 Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Cuvée Rare

Huge notes of warm bread combined with citrus zest greet your nose far above the glass. The palate is rich and soft showing notes of apple skin, lemon and hints of mineral. The balance is impeccable. Medium+ body with moderate acidity. The finish has hints of nuts and honey and goes on and on. Very sophisticated.
