“A legend in the making” was the comment on this wine. It’s a RP 100 pointer. Remarkable with huge body but low tannins. My guess n the was Tempranillo based the color and body. Clearly I am out of blind tasting practice. It may be also eternal so really a treat to catch this “lightning in a bottle”. It may be a few more years before the others are opened.

10/17/2016 4:26:00 PM - Hey Winetex, was reading your profile and we took a Tuscan trek with Pat Thompson and Claudio from La Dolce Vita Wine Tours as well, highly recommended and we are itching to do their Piedmont tour. Cheers
5/9/2015 11:11:00 AM - Thanks Sourdough for the head-up on the Marniquet. 95 is a good year in Champagne (and our wedding year) so I'll check into it. I wish we could have joined you guys at Buchanan - it sounded like a great time. Our son had rugby up in Dallas that weekend.
5/9/2015 9:49:00 AM - Hi Winetex!
Thought you should know. Specs has received a shipment of 1995 Marniquet Millisime late degorged Champagne. Priced at $99.74 cash. No tasting reports from the store or anyone I know yet but it is supposed to be similar to the 1989. And 1995 was a really good year for Burgundy and Champagne so it should be very good.
Too bad you didn't join us at Buchanan. We had some fabulous Champagnes (and other wines but the Champs really were particularly spectacular)
2/24/2014 7:39:00 AM - Hi Stealthman_1 - Hiya!! I like both of those Kirkland Champagnes as they are good for the $$ but I think the dosage is high in both. If you ever want to see Northern Italy like we did with a Piedmont native let me know. We are huge Piedmont fans and have traveled there twice (and would go again in a heartbeat....). Take care!
2/23/2014 6:54:00 PM - Hey Winetex! You liked the Kirkland Rose Champagne more than we did, but we like the regular Brut a lot. Saw your note and thought I'd say hi! It's been a while. We love your picture, my wife and I honeymooned in Tuscany and we'd love to see northern Italy. That picture motivates! Best to you.

12/27/2013 1:17:00 PM - Yes Sourdough I noticed your note. Good luck with your remodel and as always "Life is too short to drink bad wine." The Marniquet was a good one!
12/21/2013 6:39:00 PM - Hi Winetex!
Given your profile I am guessing you became a fan as a result of my notes on the Marniquet 1989 Millesme. It is available at Spec's and the store on MoPac just north of 183 has some. (I got two bottles there Friday.) I am in the process of remodeling a house in Austin and should move there next summer!
Salud!
