This was a fabulous bottle of wine. It drank more like a Cab than a classic Pinot Noir, but I loved it. Rich, delicious on the palette with a sense of just overly ripe plumbs, perfect bing cherries and elderberry syrup. This was perfect to drink in 2023, but could have survived several more years I suspect.

Opened this alongside a 2005 St Innocent Anden Vineyards. This was rough at open, but after decanting and resting for 30 minutes it came to life. A little past it’s prime, but still enjoyable. Color was a dark ruby. Rich on the pallets with faded complexity. A tinge of sour cherry, but a soft finish with what I would describe as a hint of smoked paprika. Definitely time to finish off this vintage if it’s in your cellar, IMO.

While I’m sure this was a great bottle in its prime, this 2005 Anden was dead on arrival. We opened this alongside a 2005 St Innocent Shea Vineyard, which was still great. They have been side by side in my cellar for a decade, so can only chalk the difference up to the vineyards? On opening it smelled like stomach acid, and tasted about like it too. After decanting and resting for an hour it got a little better, but was still hardly palatable.
