Columbia Valley. The 2011 Austral White Wine is a Rhone-style blend made predominately of Viognier with a bit of Roussanne and Marsanne. This is a rich wine with flavors of apricots, melons, and dried fruits blended with a light spice, that ends with a lingering, velvety finish. It was fermented in our Oak Oval and aged sur lie to give it weight, texture, and complexity. This wine will show nice fruit flavors early in its life, but I would recommend letting it age for 6-12 months so that you can enjoy the full complexity and bottle bouquet that this wine will develop

Wahluke Slope. This wine is a very typical Mourvédre, showing beautiful black fruits highlighted by savory notes of soy, leather and exotic spices. The 2009 vintage was a great one for Mourvédre, as this variety really likes the Washington state heat, and this vintage was a classic for the region. The mouthfeel is always rounder and softer than expected, which is why I love to blend with this variety as well.
