Went well with charcuterie. Was a great wine to celebrate Bastille Day on a hot summer day. 13.5% alcohol. Earthy and medium bodied.

2019 Château Bois Redon

After seeing some of the other crazy CT reviews about this wine, I just had to try it and thus leave this review. It is definitely not a California style nor should it ever be compared to it in any way. It is an old world French wine and should be appreciated for its simplicity and elegance, not for being a high alcohol California fruit bomb. I have drank a number of vintages(the 2016 was exceptional for the QPR) by this producer and even had the good fortune of meeting the winemaker in person about 10 years ago by chance in Springfield, VA. They specifically make their wines to be drank young-which, I feel offers some of us Bordeaux lovers a unique bargain in terms of price. It is fruit forward with notes of cherries and raspberries. For the price point, I am just not sure how anyone could say this is horrible(with scores of 50/60) unless they just don't know or understand earthy French wines from Bordeaux. It is very drinkable and by no means taste like soap.

Very nice old world style French wine. Even with 26 years of age it is quite enjoyable and is not over powering with food. Went really well with charcuterie and cheese on a hot summer day. If you want a fruit forward new world style pinot, this is not for you.
