No decant. right out of the gate lots of earthy funk, forest floor, mushroom, hints of cherry cola, cassis. Body is medium, color is dark and clear. No flocculation. As it opens the nose of fruit diminishes only slightly, forest floor is still there. Finishes with some faint pepper and some tannin, not gripping, just right. Good entry level example of Lalande De Pomerol. Elegant french merlot that wants to be a distinctive, delicate Pinot Noir!

Never disappoints. Sweet blackberry aroma, almost cobbler like, and the faint sweet/spice you get from root beer. medium bodied with fruit up front and more pepper on the finish. Finish is surprisingly lengthy. It's great to find a wine that can be opened routinely without breaking the bank. This is one of those wines.

Decanted. @ 10 minutes there is a nose of leather, hints of roasted garlic. Beginning to open more @ 30 minutes. Aromas of some dark fruit now as well, this wine still has some tannins though relatively subdued. Red currants on the palate and a long finish. Paired with smoked ribeye steak. Worked very well with a great christmas eve meal. Very good bottle of wine. I don't think I'll hold this vintage any further, though.
