The initial nose was smoked meats/bacon. Palette is persimmons with smooth, well-integrated tannins. Once it had time to breathe, the palette revealed baking spices: nutmeg and cloves. Fruit evolved toward bing cherry, with caramel and cream. Could use a little more time in the bottle.

The nose is oddly flat: a little cherry/dried cherry, caramel, a whiff of latte, but all very, very subtle. On the palette, it is heaven. Cleverly mouth feel. Incredible structure. Dark cherry, boysenberry, blackberry and plum, espresso, crème brûlée, a hint of pine. Long on the palette. Tannins perfectly integrated. This is at its peak. I would not wait.

The nose on opening is blackberry pie with a whiff of pepperiness. On the palette, the tannins are only moderately integrated, blackberry carries through more subdued, strong black licorice, with the prototypical hay and tapioca (perhaps more vanilla cream) on the mid-palette and graphite/mineral on the back end (reminiscent of Rutherford more than Oakville). At the very back end they’re a subtle nectarine or mango.
