Hard to say where these reviews are coming up with their numbers. This is a 12 year old Fronsac and what a gem it is! On the nose, there is scorched earth, graphite, and gravel with a deep cassis or cherry liqueur lurking underneath. On the palate, rich red plum, plum skin, and marasca cherry on the attack with the earthy notes above complementing the fruit. Palate is dry, Acid is M+, tannin M+ with some grip, finish is M+ with good length and complexity.

Deep straw with gold reflects. Nose was underripe pear, green apple, candied lemon peel, fresh grass, saline, wet stone, and some nuttiness. There were also classic markers of buttered popcorn, toast points, char, and lemon oil. Palate confirmed the nose with judicious new French oak, but well integrated even in its youth. Palate is dry M+ body, M+ acid, long salty and briny finish. Very good quality for village level.

In a pretty place. Lots of mature red cherry fruit still with mushroom and other tertiary nuances.
