Crikey this is terrific value. Decanted for an hour - gorgeous fruit on the nose (I wish I could be more specific!!), powerful and youthful and held together well by the tannins which softened a little after a couple of hours in decanter. A hint of brownness showing through threatens to give its age away but the tannins indicate plenty to go. Lots of primary flavours present, clearly has plenty of aging left if wanted but I think in a terrific spot now. Purchased EP and cellared in OWC.

Rich and hedonistic on the nose on opening. Endless berries and chocolate. Initial tasting is similar having rested in a decanter for 30 mins. Absolutely lovely and batting a long way out of its league! But as with previous bottles, after 60/90 mins this starts to fade and the alcohol takes over, detracting from the experience. Tertiary flavours appear but are overpowered by the 14.5%. It is still great QPR, but left wishing (unfairly at this price point) for slightly better balance, as with it this could be so so good! As it is - great QPR, definitely in a good spot, just not sure how to deal with the high alcohol….
Wine in a lovely spot. Decanted but not left to rest for long, really well balanced at the moment. Some secondary flavours present but the wine still a good colour and fruit present, so there’s longer to age if that’s your thing. Tannins really well integrated. It will age further and I might stash a few bottles for longer term for interest or tasting against more recent vintages, but it’s drinking beautifully now.
NB Cellared in OWC at 8 degrees since EP purchase - la garde seems to be consistently c. £18 on release which is superb value
