Delightful Medoc from a great vintage. I hadn't heard of this Cru Bourgeois Medoc before (I think it lost its Cru Bourgeois status in the cull of 2003). Mellow colour, bricking at the rim but no more than expected for the age. Plummy fruit with a bit of leather on the nose. Mellow integrated tannins with great balance and very decent length. Thinning a little but showing all the lovely structure of a great vintage in what was a very nice bottle. Very pleasant surprise of a not-very-famous wine delivering a really great drinking experience

Decided based on recent disappointing Pichon Baron experience that the '94 Bordeaux need to be consumed! This had far more life in it than the Baron, with a good leather and red fruit nose, less faded colour (although still notable brick colour around the rim) and half decent length, but still tannic a fairly short finish for this wine (tasted the '97 later which was a far more elegant, structured classic Leoville Barton - rated 91). Glad most of my 1994's are gone.

Wow. Really delicious. Quite a pale straw colour. Honey and apricot nose. Sweet and a little cloying but really pleasant length with a hint of citrus and a finish that goes right down. I suspect this would be worth leaving for a year or two and will get even better.
