There is only a hint on the nose, a gentle “stewed-prunes-light”! Mono aromatic on the back of palate, - that is the only impression. Nice, delicate, unassuming. Prunes and their pits on the finish, in fact, quite a bit of pits in a reduction of prune compote. It is actually quite nice, and surprisingly balanced! So modest! Although it does not say much, the stewed prunes really get your attention at the end. It is really interesting, because it does not have a large array of impressions, feels low in alcohol, simple, elementary, and yet, it is so enjoyable!

Bottom line - would I buy this bottle again? Perhaps, if the price were closer to $10, but there are so many other choices that say a lot more, and make more of an impression.

I said "drink now, in 2021", just because I don't think time will do anything to this winel

I'd give it a solid 89 in in enjoyability. Overall, a pleasant wine, unpretentious, easily drinkable. Mild on the nose, however, unfortunately, quite bland on the palate. Mid-palate, a fair balance between acidity and sweetness, but other than that, not much to notice. The finish is mainly alcohol. The overall impression is pleasant, hence the solid 89, however, besides the alcohol, and faint memories of ...something..., nothing stands out. Was hoping for a medley of impressions with a bit more oomph - more... anything, really.

Bottom-line question. Would I buy this wine again? Yes, provided it came at a very low price. Not bad for a sipping bottle, something to keep you company while you cook, etc.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, isn't it, (or the palate of the taster)?! Well... I like this wine. Still have some 2013 bottles, and recently, opened one. About 5 years ago, I wanted to learn all about reds, for which I had no taste what so ever at the time. I wrote some tasting notes in 2016, however, today, I have more appreciation and understanding about reds. So... is it good? To me, it is. Some may find it a tad sweet, but truly, it is all a personal preference. It is not goowey sweet, just right for those who do not care for a very dry wine. There is not just one version of the "truth", therefore, if you like a red that is not too dry (sour, to some of us), well, you just may like this one. Did you ever try and enjoy an Amarone? Well, you just may like this one. Purchased in 2016, it was about $11 at the time. 2013 was a great year, climate wise. It is quite drinkable - the TNs are similar from my last post, but today, with years passing, and especially with some decanting, this wine is a pleasure. It has body, it has "substance" to go with heavier dishes, and to me, a delight as a sipping wine (decanted, though), so smooth, so balanced. Definitely not a sophisticated wine, but so enjoyable! For a low price, this wine would be a nice bottle to open and just enjoy, with no prejudice. It does not seem high in alcohol, therefore several glasses can be enjoyed.

8/24/2016 6:30:00 AM - Very kind of you to ask - thank you. Well... the research continues, the palate has evolved quite a bit, and the TNs have changed, in that they are in fact shorter, more concentrated, quite succinct, really. Instead of points, which I find a bit subjective (or perhaps feel unready for) I do write at the end of TNs a "personal note", which accomplishes something similar (things like "I like it, I love it, will not buy again, it would go great with heavier meat, etc.). This is not to say that in the future I won't assign points - will see. Enjoy your tastings!
