  • 2020 Le Cuvíer Cabernet Sauvignon

The other night I had a Le Cuvier 2019 XLB Cab. Sadly, they are out of those, but the 2020 Cab. Sauv. is tasting really well, even though I am sure it will improve with age. Like most Le Cuvier reds, I could drink the nose! However, the nose is not as vibrant as the 2019 XLB, as of yet. The taste is super-balanced, I get dark fruit & some earthy tones but wine description is not my strong suit. I really like how this wine tastes. Better than the 2019 XLB, the finish is very even without the tannic "tongue grab" that I find off-putting with many really nice wines. Perhaps my best endorsement, I just ordered 5 more bottles, a few I hope I can age appropriately if patience allows.

  • 2019 Le Cuvíer Cabernet Sauvignon XLB (extra long barrel)

I purchased 3 bottles of this vintage. We drank the first bottle a year or so ago, and it was very good, but another year in the bottle improved it. The nose is wonderfully rich, the mouth is a very balanced combination of dark fruit and with some spice (pepper). The finish was very nice, but a slightly bit more tannic at the very end than I prefer. I will endeavor to save bottle #3 for 2026 or 2027, if my patience can hold out that long!

  • 2020 Le Cuvíer Zinfandel

Very nice like all Le Cuvier Zin vintages, but finish is a bit more abrupt and tart compared to earlier vintages. Deep rich color, smoky/earthy nose with hints of dark fruit, nice mouth with a very nice balance of dark fruit/spice/dark fruit. Finish falls off somewhat quickly and is slightly tart. Will likely benefit from more years in the bottle.
