Still not sure what to think about this one. The pinot is hidden under some pretty clear Carignan character, super zippy acidity when first opened, almost too high-toned. A day or two in bottle smoothed things out and let some great juicy blackberry and smoky herb through, though the acid and tannin remain. Should have let this one hang in bottle for a few years at least.

Expressive gingerbread, asian pear, lemon curd, and graham cracker on the nose with a faint whiff of buttercream and wool fleshing it out. Palate follows with a touch of malolactic smoothness, saline minerality, and a rush of juicy meyer lemon and dried strawberry buouyed by medium acidity. Similar to a lot of entry-level Cru Burgundy. Not much up-front oak here, but serious textural nuance from the 16 months in Austrian puncheons.

At the end of it's life for sure but still showing impressively, with spice, licorice, and lots of dark fruit still hanging around the tertiary notes. Drink up!

Seriously not bad for the price!
