This Shiraz is big and bold. While flavors of black cherry, blackberry and black plum are still present, they have heavily evolved into notes of leather, fig and cooked fruits. The tannins have smoothed but the alcohol is still strong at 16.5%. There is a slight herbal aroma on the nose and a bit of vanilla and cedar on the palet.
There really isn’t enough fruit to offset the alcohol and the tannins are not quite balanced by the medium acidity. This is still a “good” wine, but I don’t know that continuing to age it would make sense given the high alcohol and medium acid.
