Holy Jesus! I thought my epiphany had come last month when hosting a Brunello event including the 85' Tenimenti Angelini Val di Suga Brunello Riserva, 85' Il Colle Brunello Riserva and the 90 Poggio Antico normale.
However, I was FLOORED, by this wine. As many of my notes say (I generally only post wines that "move" me) this wine is as balanced as can be. An absolutely perfect food match with a basic Ragu bolognese and delightful on its own afterwards, this pop and pour was a beauty. I envisoined this wine pairing beautifully with a half dozen of my favorite other Italian meals. Got this on winebid a few months ago for what I felt was a steal ($65) and it solidified my recent quest of mature Brunello. Is there really anything better than well made Brunello and a fine Italian meal? OK, maybe Barolo, but I digress. This wine is killer right now, and I think has a number (~5?) of years ahead of it as well. Bravo!

WAAAAY over the top with fruit. Not sure if the 04 Fleur Cardinale and 04 Vieux Telegraphe burned my palate, but this wine just seared me with fruit, fruit and more fruit. Was a bit jarring, frankly, and not typical of my experience with this produder at all. Luckily I got this for cheap on winbid and have 1 bottle left, but I am starting to wonder if maybe the Sonoma Coast bottlings are simply too ripe for my palate. I love the RRV wines (03 Arrendell a few weeks ago was FANTASTIC!). Judgement held on this one.

Another winebid steal at $25, this was my first Inman, after hearing so many good things. This wine possessed typical RRV Pinot traits that I love. Good, balance fruit, and the spice and cinnamon I identify with a lot of the Williams Selyems I drink. I am a fan, and so is my wife (always a good thing!). (0 views)
