Deep purple color, strong alcohol and tannins right off the bat. Initially decanted for half an hour, but would recommend at least an hour, as it opened up much better with a little extra air. Very pleasing bold Italian red. Maybe a bit rustic, think big bowls of meaty pasta, but good value at $15.

I don’t drink a lot of U.S. Pinots, I find them to largely be over-oaked and lacking interesting secondary flavors, especially at the $20-$40 price point. All that said, I loved this bottle, best Oregon Pinot I’ve had to date. Very light bodied, it was particularly nice served slightly chilled on our back patio. Good acidity made it an excellent food companion, and a half hour decant brought out some delightful earthy forest notes. Highly recommend, especially if you, like me, mostly drink old world Pinots.

My rookie evaluation of any sparkling wine is whether it tastes substantially different than your standard $10 bottle of Prosecco. This did not, so was not worth the extra cash. One note, nothing special, not even remotely close to Champagne quality.
