    Fine general drinking. Excellent value.

Soft textured, integrated, balanced and poised. Gentle bark autumnal berries.

  • 2021 Domaine des Terres Dorées (Jean-Paul Brun) Fleurie Grille Midi

    Opened and decanted, 10 minuits:

    Deep plum in colour.

    Classic Gamay presentation

Burnt orange - sweet peas - herbaceous, fresh unmalted tea leaves; (ight Assam).

Earthy volatile phenols - motor garage.

20 minutes : muted raspberry and blackcurrant. Light and very dry on the pallete. Lentils - light bitter green citrus.

Two plus hours: settles to a dry, terse presentation; agreeable and balanced but dryly acidic. Wafts of gingerbread and honeydew melon; all mellow. A broad spectrum, which can be discerned, will be filled with age.

Previous bottles enjoyed, have been, 2015. These were excellent.

Sample bottle referred to here, was the taster of seven bought. The remaining six shall sleep until 2028 as a minimum.

  • 2014 Lacoste Borie

immediately enjoyable upon opening. This bottle unfolded it's petals to reveal delicate fragrance of violets and subdued lavender, at around an hour from opening.

This is not a critical, forensic note, but one that expresses the impressions given, of passing enjoyment suited to the occasion. Simply: an enjoyable light but fulsome, enjoyable wine; fragrant and pleasing on the senses. Eases towards light, enjoyable graphite after 75 minutes to air - the air that has passed over sweet, dark, but not burned, toffee.

Always a reliable wine to enjoy. A joy.
