I approached the glass with some trepidation as the liquid seemed a bit too dark and brooding for my taste. Although muscular, it is also subtle, complex, and elegant: a hint of Barolo, with the faintest scent of tar, inside G-C typicity. A bit chewy and dense in aftertaste, which suggests more years in the cellar for the wine to find its apogee.

a bottle replete with surprises: it's closed with a combination of a crown cap and (yellow) wax. after the pour, the bottle seemed a victim of premox but the wine seems to have been born this way: p-yellow / pink-orange. it has that oxidized feel to the wine but is also quite tactile and rich: somewhere between a Jura (blind i might have said Arbois) and a Bandol (which is what i'd have said before taking a sip). got character, but no typicité.

still going strong and quite tannic but fruit is certainly there and surprisingly ripe to boot. i could have waited five or more years but i am not sorry to have opened and enjoyed this pleasant, though not profound, bottle.

4/4/2022 9:34:00 AM - Hi Jonah,
I’ve been looking through your cellar on Cellar Tracker and noticed you have some fantastic wines, including François Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur - have you considered joining Antica Terra’s Collective?
We offer hard-to-find wines to exclusive members, curating rare bottles for sophisticated buyers. The enrollment window is about to open for a limited number of new members - I think you would be a great fit, Jonah, so I wanted to tell you more.
Here’s how it works; our founder and winemaker, Maggie, selects a bottle for you each month and twice a year you’ll receive 6 or 12 bottles delivered to your door with the option of a selection of sparkling, white, rosé and red wines, or a selection of exclusively red wines.
A few treasures tucked into the founding members’ spring boxes include a 2011 Marguet Pere & Fils 'Sapience' Premier Cru, Extra-Brut, Champagne, and a 2002 Nikolaihof Vinothek Riesling, Wachau.
If this is of interest to you, shall we set up a time to discuss? Or happy for you to email me directly at daniel@anticaterra.com
Best,
Daniel (Antica Terra)
