2007 Sugarleaf Vineyards Chardonnay

A Chardonnay that holds up well against the finest. Aged in oak, it has the classic characteristics of a CA Chardonnay. This winery, although small and off the map, does well in all of it's releases - this is no exception

Continues to improve (decanted 30 mins) - possesses a strong nose, dominated with dark fruits & berries, with hints of licorace. A medium bodied start which is smooth & silky on the tongue, while opening up with a burst of dark fruit with a balanced level of acidity. The finish lingers long and remains silky. Look forward to seeing how this one continues to develop.

2002 Kluge Estate New World Red Kluge Estate

A vintage we have enjoyed in the past - this was aerated via gadget: The nose has lost some punch, with dominate currant & fig, with hints of toasted toffee. This ruby colored, medium bodied vintage, has a deep & earthen - leathery front, opening up with a burst of dark berries displaying an earthen hue. This ends with a smooth, dry, medium finish - well balanced. This paired well with various cheeses, fruits & nuts. This may have another couple of years.
