Muted nose, dark fruits (blackberry). Dark berries, slightly leathery and spicy with floral touch? Feels alcoholic (15%) but still relatively balanced.
Perfectly decent value for the price but does feel relatively basic.

A bit of spritz at the start. Dark fruit, licorice, strong tannins but it is needed for the fruit. Finishes dry on the palate. Village level quality but well made overall.

Tasted blind. Med (+) ruby with a garnet rim. Med (+) aromas of ripe black fruit, stems, wild savory herbs, earth and subtle baking spice. Dry, with med to med (+) acidity, med (+), fine-grained tannins and high alcohol. Med (+) body, flavor intensity and length, with a slight bitter licorice note on the finish. Still early in its drinking window, this should improve with further aging.
Pretty clearly Old World and moderate climate, but hard to peg whether it is Syrah or Grenache. In fact, it is a blend of 74% Grenache and 26% Syrah, so I don't feel so bad calling it a N. Rhone Syrah.

Two quick notes: First, this is too young. Second, it is not as good as the Font de Tonin bottling, which is not very much more expensive.
