Tasted as part of a mini-vertical with the '75, '85 and '00. This particular bottle was from a recent auction purchase to supplement my dwindling original modest stock purchased at release. I think this may have been one of the last "classically-styled" LB for at least a decade and a half, and the contrast with the very modern '00 was striking. Not surprisingly, considering the vintage, this is still quite structured, and is just beginning to enter secondary development. The cassis and blackberry fruit is a bit subdued, with tobacco and cedar notes adding complexity. A more elegant, understated style of LB, and very enjoyable now but likely to improve with another 5-10 years.

This is one of the first "serious" bottles of wine I ever purchased, as a poor grad student in NYC. It has rested virtually untouched for over 25 years and may have rested another 25 if I didn't pick up another bunch at a good price at auction. This newfound bounty prompted me to check in on my small existing cache since the last bottle I opened was a decade ago. I know the consensus is that '95s will take a long time to come around (if at all in some peoples' opinions) and this fits squarely in that mold. This really only began to open up on day 3, and I should probably have decanted. By the last glass this was showing cassis, pencil lead, cherry and some leather notes. Still has a wall of tannins that threaten to overshadow the fruit, but they began to recede a bit with air and time. Lots of upside here, but still needs another decade at least.

(Château Lynch-Bages) Very dark red violet color; musty nose initially, that changed to pencil lead and cassis nose; velvety textured, tasty, tart cassis, herbaceous, mineral palate with the beginning of some maturity; medium-plus finish 92+ pts.
(Château Lynch-Bages) Dark red violet color; lovely, big Bordeaux nose with mushroom; tasty, tart cassis, leather, tobacco and coffee palate; medium finish 93+ pts.
(Lynch Bages) Beautiful nose of tabac, flowers, kirsch and minerals. Palate has loads of sweet fruit with beautiful restraint and great finish with sweet tannin. Great sense of finesse. Very impressive and I believe the first time I have had '95 Lynch.

Decanted 5 hours. Butterfly Wicklow spring lamb on the bbq. The perfect match. Brick on rim, vegetal, dry , long finish. Still some way to go

Lovely dark fruit, asphalt, graphite and touch of earth. Full, round and well balanced. Love the creamy texture.
