  • Officially a blend of Gamay from Beaujolais and Poulsard from Jura, but many sources say the Jura part includes also co-fermented old-vine Argant (aka. Gänsfüsser), Beclan (aka. Peloursin), Corbeau (aka. Douce Noir), Enfariné, Gueuche, Petit Béclan, Portugais Bleu (aka. Blauer Portugieser) and Seyve-Villard (aka. Seyval Noir). Carbonic maceration. Vinified without any sulfites. Aged for 10 months. The label didn't say anything about the vintage, but the cork had "2014" on it. 12% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Pale and very translucent cherry red with a luminous orange hue. Very open, fragrant and super-expressive nose with wild and somewhat funky aromas of Campari-like chinotto zest, crunchy cranberry, some perfumed floral tones, a little bit of new leather and a hint of wild strawberry. Very captivating and lovely. The wine is light-bodied, wild and crunchy on the palate with bright, sappy flavors of raspberries, fresh red fruits, some perfumed and slightly funky bretty tones, a little bit of wild strawberry, a medicinal hint of fluoride paste and a Campari-like touch of chinotto zest. The wine is moderately high in acidity with light, easy tannins. The finish is fresh, lively and very gently grippy with long flavors of wild strawberries, some Campari, a little bit of stony minerality, a floral hint of brett, light leathery tons and a tart hint of cranberry.

A very lovely, fresh and immensely drinkable little glou-glou wine. The wine is obviously very natural with its fragrant and wild overall character, but it isn't funky in a farmyard sense - its brett tones are more fragrant and floral, wonderfully complementing the bright forest fruit aromatics. It's hard to guess how this wine will continue to develop, but since it doesn't show much or any sense of evolution now, at 4½ years of age, I doubt it will fall apart very soon. Wonderful value at 20€, definitely one of the best Vin de France-level Ganevat wines. Highly recommended.

  • This bottle showed much more funkiness than the last one. reductive, even slightly skunky aromas on opening, which blew off entirely after vigorous swirling (and completely absent on day 2). After the funk blows off it’s a pretty high-toned and bright red-fruited wine. Naughty label.

  • Dekantert 1 t.

  • This opened up with a lot of funk and spritz. With air it settled down but it wasn't as clean as the last bottle that I loved so much.
