Decanted and served. Dull ruby to the edge. Complex aromas of dark fruit, licorice, olive, and bark. Full bodied but not ponderous. Magical mix of succulent, perfectly ripe fruit, spice, and savory elements. Sappy, long, and bolstered by terrific acidity and round, ripe tannins. Delicious now but impressively young with miles to go. Outstanding wine by any measure.

This is singing. Wonderful, sweet cherry fruit and white pepper notes, old Grenache showing through. Lively, elegant, no hard edges. This will be long lived.

Dark and lush blackberry fruit but also some aged flavors of mushrooms and wet leaves. It still feels like a fairly young wine but it is certainly ready to drink. The tannins are nicely integrated but the alcohol is dominating a little bit.

I have the good fortune to have many older CDP in my cellar. The Mont Olivet is drinking well but its best day is likely behind it and not a lot of future in it. If you have it, drink up.

(Mont-Olivet Chateauneuf Du Pape "Cuvee Papet") This was way too young. Like drinking olive juice spiked with hardcore cherry fruit. This bottle had been open for four days and was still wickedly tannic. There was impressive fruit with great persistence but this wine needs 20-30 years. It really had a dense structure.

Ripe and delicious with plenty of sweet cherry. I fall on the side of those who recommend drinking within the next couple of years.
