Very good example of its genre. Nose is fairly massive, with heaps of baker’s yeast, leavened bread dough, spices, steel and a touch of citrus rind. Palate is a bit more circumspect - bone dry, with a nice sense of poise, but no fireworks. Like pretty much all fino, this is a food-oriented wine, and I couldn’t manage more than a couple of glasses in one sitting. Much more ‘special’, aromatically-speaking, than the swathes of industrial cooking sherry found on supermarket shelves in the UK, but not special enough to make me want to buy it again.

Xmas 2022; 12/20/2022-12/27/2022 (Matt and Marta’s): 2022 bottling. Quite full and medium gold in colour, plenty of body to this wine, plenty of yeasty dough and ripe stone fruits, some salinity and a long finish.A very interesting take on fino from a single vineyard, less cut than I’m used to with fino but great with a wide range of tapas

Phoenix Palace and Regents Park Lunch: Lovely - well put together, nutty, aromatic, super precise. A more full mid palate than one sometimes gets with fino, and a very welcome 15% abv. Whenever I drink wine like this I wonder why I don’t drink more sherry.
If this were a line in a song it it would be Cyndi Lauper singing “you with the sad eyes” in True Colors.

Mint, dough, floral, apple skin, lime juice, quince notes. Airing reveals clean, sunlit, buttery palate. High concentration, balanced.
