Very balanced blend, soft in tannins and with strong red and black fruit aromas, mainly cherry and blackberry. Subtle aromas from the barrel, that come to the nose as leather, and mild peppery flavor. Excellent to drink now, I would cellar only for 1-2 more years.

I think my last note sums this one up well. I do detect an integrated wood quality as a spicy note. I think this has mellowed just enough to make it a tad more interesting as well. A wine of bright, primary fruit supported by solid structure. The focused tannin gives focus to the finish. Quite nice even to night three.

Holy berry cobbler. Just *wham* right in the face with the fresh fruit. Certainly not too extracted or ripe. Just pure big fruit. Seems to be a welcome lack of wood character. Shows a sort of glycerin type of heaviness in the midpalate. Solid acidity but not real lift. A touch of skin like bitterness helped give it more interest on night two. Otherwise this blend is narrow in purpose. Wide open and ready to go. Overall this is another wine where I feel they should offer it at a lower price. A unique site for certain but the wine does not command the sort of attention many others do for the money.

Consumed over two nights. Better than expected. Acid definitely plays a key role and it’s very obvious and present but it is supported buy some beautiful sweet fruit that dances with the acid in a magical way. Great job Ridge. Thought it might need food but it was consumed without.
