Vibrant ruby-purple in colour, darker than I was expecting for a Bourgogne. Black cherry liquer, blackberry, smoke, ripe fruits speaks to a hot vintage. Flowers, mineral and earth, with a licoricey, fennel note. This is not your fine, linear Bourgogne, this has some weight to it. More acid on the palate than I was expecting from the nose. Sits heavy on the mid palate, very weighty for a regular bottling Bourgogne. maybe some of the alcohol is a little forward/out of balance, but for the price this is not a big complaint. This is coming in at 14% but would argue they are pushing the envelope there, as this is all of 14.5%. This could be a great gateway wine, to introduce New World style Pinot drinkers who enjoy the California wines, getting them into Burgundy with a somewhat lateral move in style.

Crimson; black cherries, strawberries, earth, vanilla; kirsch liquor, cranberry, glycerin, medium body, tangy acidity, fine tannins, lingering finish Deeply coloured with ripe black cherry and strawberry fruit. Good alcohol, acidity needs time to integrate. Tasty but not complex.
