Opened for 1-2 hours and was ready to go. Tannins resolved. Incredible nose, intricate and a sense of quality. The body was French in nature, super smooth, austere.

Coming back again. Now almost 25 years old. Opened for 3 hours. Color is still deep garnet/purple but orange rim. On the nose: Plum, cassis, cinnamon, espresso and some dark chocolate. On the palate: Rich plum, cassis, a hint of cherry, baking spices, graphite and cinnamon. This is superb and I bet has decades left. I am down to only two bottles of my old case. I will try to wait a few years to see how it evolves but it’s fabulous. Also only 13% alcohol which I appreciate. My score keeps climbing but I am not a metronome.

Hard to believe this 24 years old. Still some youth to it… but getting some nice scondary noutes. Comes alive with a bit of air- give 2 hrs in decanter.
Fuller / rounder than an 87 dunn HM we drank with

Gorgeous. Deep nose with tropical soil and dark fruits. Rich texture, nicely mature elements of cedar and umami. Only flaw is the acids are a bit sour and competing at time with the core. Long finish recaps the opening.

(Ridge Monte Bello) Medium dark ruby color with slight bricking; lovely, lifted, raspberry, ripe plum, herbal, seaweed nose; tasty, silky textured, maturing but still youthful, tart cassis, cedar, herbal, dried seaweed palate; long finish (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot)
(Ridge Monte Bello) Very dark red violet color; berry, cassis, beets, beef jus nose; maturing, beef jus, green peppercorn, berry, iron, black fruit and fig palate; medium-plus finish (on a faster evolutionary track than the average Monte Bello, but still elegant and with years ahead of it)

from Magnum
juicy, loads of dark fruit (boysenberry), but really quite young (at least in magnum format)
