Classic Napa world class cabernet from a pioneer of the region and the grape, among the best of the '90's Mondavi Reserves that we have had. Enjoyed last night at the legendary Tampa steakhouse Bern's out of their cellar. In a totally mature drinking window and right now probably at it's peak - it may hold here for 2-3 more years in cold storage but I see no additional upside at all to further cellaring and recommend that any remaining bottles be drunk up soon. Soft purple color, peripheral bricking present, perfectly balanced with some oak but no tannins present, soft mouth feel, medium - full bodied and an absolutely lovely long lingering aftertaste. At this point in development quite Bordeauxy in style. Nose soft and complex with dark cherry, lilac, baking spices and smoke present. Flavor profile classic aged CA cabernet up front with oak still detectable, cassis, dark plum, dark cherry, currants and blueberry with cigarbox, soft black pepper and iron on the mid- late palate. I believe this vintage was 100% cabernet.

dark ruby/purple, dark fruits, currants, black cherry, well integrated tannins, long finish, peak drinking now, but should do well for another 5-10 years

This bottle looked from the outside to be in great shape; no leaking and the cork was firm with little penetration. However, it was all downhill from there, even after giving it plenty of air. Browning badly. Nose is more shoe polish and autumn leaves than anything else. Not terribly interesting in the mouth either, with the most identifiable element being iodine. I had high hopes seeing some of the recent reviews, but this bottle went over the hill some time ago, probably due to poor storage before I bought it about twenty years ago. Not rated.
Nose: Super classic black cherry, raspberry and baking spice notes. Ripe and ebullient nose. Palate: Blackberry, cherry candies, all spice, and bell pepper. Texture is fine and fully resolved with soft sweet tannin. Finish: powdery and fine closing notes of red and black fruit and classic tokalon spice.
Served next to the 92 Dunn Napa and 94 Dunn HM. This really spoke to Napa in a classic way from the heart of the valley floor. Drink up.

A wonderful fully mature Cali Cab. Still in a great place. Graceful best describes how it is drinking now.
