Nose not as honeyed as the other Auslesen in this flight, but with stronger petrol notes. Very fresh and acidic, limey, pretty long. The finish is quite amazing. Just pretty untypical for Auslese, not very sweet at all. Good future.

This is very refined, pithy, with a good mineral undertow and plenty of substance but not richness. Not a big or tropical Auslese. The residual sugar is quite discreet. Very neat. Perfect for an off-dry aperitif. I plan to drink most of my bottles young, though it appears balanced enough to stay the course. At less than £10 a bottle it is an absolute bargain.

An Introduction to Germany, A fine Wine Tutored Tasting with Martin Hudson MW (Berry Bros & Rudd, London): Light gold, greenish tint. Light petrolly nose. Citrus notes on the palate but really the weight of this is more of a spatlese than an auslese and disappoints on this front. Even the acidity is not there in a level enough o create a balanced wine. At times bitter too and lacks harmony and flow. 84
