  • Starter wine. Great tiny bubbles, nice acidity and balance. Just a great all around bubbly.

  • Got this bottle from the winery's wine club for $31.50 and drank with chicken liver mousse pate from Trader Joe's on St. Valentine's Day evening.
This is another dependable, consistent, fantastic sparkler from Chandon. The wine consists of 65% Pinot Noir, 31% Chardonnay, and 4% Pinot Meunier and is only available to Chandon's wine club members.
Like practically all of Chandon's sparklers, this is a delicious, well-made wine. The 69% of Pinots (65% Noir and 4% Meunier) adds the usual depth-of-flavors that most Chardonnays can't touch. The bouquet is earthy, yeasty, and citrusy. The wine has all of the usual Pinot-based flavors, including plenty of red fruits (especially cherries), white pepper and other savory spices, with a significant amount of terrior. The finish is very smooth and easy-on-the-palate; no doubt the 5 years (minimum) on the lees contributed to the wine's elegance and silky texture.
Chandon has once again hit the ball out of the park with this bubbly (or at least hit a solid triple). There are few sparkling wine producers out there that have the product breathe and quality depth that Chandon has. I don't love 100% of their releases, but I can't think of another winery that makes 10+ bubblies that are all 90+ points worthy. As usual, a job very well done Tom Tiburzi (Chandon's Maker-of-Bubbles, as I would name him)!
