Perhaps on the gentle decline down, but that decline just started. Still a lovely wine and as these wines age, they do start to take on more Rhone characteristics...

Son of Sam this is a massive mofo of a Syrah. It's practically a Port. Fun funk that's like smelling a distant farmyard through the open window of a very clean hospital room. Ripe till over the hill blackberries. Ruby red grapefruit peel. Not too complex, in that way giant wines tend to be a little simple. and not at all a bad choice for getting 3 people a little tipsy on one bottle.

Big ole HS Syrah. Lots of wine for $35, a sure crowd-pleaser. Gotta have some BBQ or chicken wings or bar food for me to be able to handle a wine this big, these days.I think it is 101% abv. But worth it.

Similar to my note from about a year ago. Dark fruit, tar, beef, pepper. Even smoother and more integrated than a year ago if possible. As difficult as it is too hold them I am becoming a firm believer of what age can do for Russell's wines!
