  • PnP. Much better nose , with only a hint of the acetone that I got with the last bottle, but not running out for another. Less fruit than last time, however. Earth, persistent mineral giving it some worthy character, but way too much tannin. I'm guessing barriques, new oak?

  • Aromatically enticing, rich earthiness and curing meat with slight oak sweetness lingering in the glass. With air, beautiful aromas of blue summer flowers emerge.
The attack is quite dry, moderately tannic, with savory acidity. This is well balanced by black cherry, rhubarb, choke cherry fruit and lingering black tar in the finish. There is an enticing interplay of fruit, acid, and tannin that worked well when paired with a 2 week aged eye of beef rib, seared & roasted.

  • A wine from the Villages portion of Les Cras. Pale ruby slightly bricking at the rim. Strawberries, raspberries, cinnamon and a touch of stewed plums on the nose, not surprising for a 2009. On palate, atypically for a 2009, bright, breezy, refreshing acids. Good fruit ripeness and concentration to match the acidity. No hint of overripeness. Polished raspberries, cranberries, plums and other largely red fruit. Succulent Chambolle red berries. Silky and elegant. Perhaps not hugely complex but very enjoyable nonetheless. Ready to go now but no need to hurry, based on this bottle.

  • A villages rather than a 1er.

Very stinky funky on opening, burnt tobacco, but after an hour integrated quite nicely to sweet cranberry/ red berry fruit. Quite nice, if rather distinctive stuff.
