Sweeter than expected, but still a great opening number to a leisurely dinner with friends. Great clarity, easy drinker. Think this is in its window, not the structure to really transform with further age.

Damn, every once in a while you catch one just in the zone. Brilliant Kab presentation, powerful acidity but the fruit is there and they elevate each other. Why I keep trolling the German aisle, this is a style I really enjoy. Shimmers in the glass, light on the palate. Served with pot stickers and a smoked tofu starter. The way life should be. QPR champ again from Hexamer.

(Hexamer Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Riesling Kabinett) ($27.00) Don’t you think it’s silly that Rheingrafenberg isn’t classified as Grosses Gewächs merely because Harald isn’t in the VDP? I mean, what does the quality of a vineyard have to do with membership in a marketing association? Not a damn thing, of course. I can’t give you a final note because this wine was pending D-ass. There was a toasted barley and quince dialogue, call it butter versus steel, but beyond that I’ll know when you know – at the June DI tastings.

Quite a bit of epidural SUgar. Went pretty well with chicken kabobs
