Just the right wine to go with pan seared ribeye steak. The wine has settled down and no longer has the heavy duty oak influence that it had in its youth. Acidity is crisp, palate is a spicy melange of red and blue berries.

This wine is meant for a prime rib dinner and that's where it was consumed, to accolades all around. Dense, rich, velvet textured. Not a wine of finesse, rather of power.

The wine is inky garnet. Nose is of damp cellar and berries. It presents with juicy berries-cassis, raspberries, in medium body and adds flavors of dark chocolate and pepper in a medium finish. The lasting impression is that of fresh berries.

Pre-Hospice du Rhone 2012; 4/25/2012-4/27/2012 (Paso Robles, CA): 15.4% ABV. Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Ripe, concentrated black currant fruit. Finishes a little rustic and tangy, but well made and kind of interesting.
