Medium bodied but with good aromatic and flavor intensity. Starting to show it’s age with some bricking around the rim.
The wine features a profile of black coffee, dark chocolate, cassis, and sesame sauce with hints of bell pepper and lingering notes of tobacco. Very savory.

more than two years later, another pour: color: purple velvet; nose: earth and oak, as before, and also a touch of vanilla; taste: medium-bodied mouth feel, fruit-leaning taste, medium-length finish with notes of licorice and tobacco; overall: tasty, New World-biased, if kind of simple, CS juice at a decent price -- and now (2015-6) is the time to enjoy it.
12/11/12 - 84 pts - Having enjoyed several bottles of Cousino-Macul's 2009 CS last year, this is my first pour of the 2010 vintage. Color: light red-purple; nose: earth and light oak -- but hardly any; taste: medium-bodied mouth feel, licorice-green pepper taste, medium-length smooth finish tasting of tobacco and greenish tannins; overall: OK, but less of a fruit taste than before and therefore less interesting and dynamic. It's not bad, but probably needs to sit another 6-10 months before it's ready for prime time

Tons of pepper and red fruit, but too much concentration and acidity makes it unbalanced.
