  Another solid edition with its savoury, black cherry jam and poultry spice nose with coffee, liquorice, cedar, vanilla aromas with a hint of barnyard and leather. Ripe, round and supple with good finesse there is a wealth of black cherry jam, roasted mushroom, tobacco, savoury, pepper, liquorice, vanilla and sage flavours. Very smooth and well balanced.

But, returning to it two days later, the beast had been tamed. There was depth, power and persistence but also balance and the heat had completely disappeared. Visually there are signs of maturity but this is still a young, concentrated wine with layers of soft, velvety tannin and a decent amount of acidity. As well as black olive there are iodine notes and the mostly savoury palate has some sweet dark fruit and dark chocolate around the edges. A gorgeous wine that should continue to age well. Chill slightly and/or decant if drinking now.
