Kevin's btl tonight at the new Butcher & Boar Warehouse District w/ KB, VB, DM, SS & JS. I'm a happy camper anytime a 1er Puligny Montrachet shows up and tonight's btl was in excellent form with the concentration, intensity and balance you want from a 12yr old btl of Puligny. And, lovely minerality!

Butcher & The Boar Reincarnate (Butcher and the Boar, Mpls): Light gold plus color. PNP, drank a glassover an hour. I really like the nose here, giving off fresh air and wafts of wet river stones, toasted barrels, lemon, and lemon peel. The palate is medium bodied plus and consistent with the nose, with nice verve and energy. Very good.

Kleur: Medium goudgeel. Algemeen / potentieel: 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 14 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 88/100
Colour: Medium golden yellow. Aroma / bouquet: Striking closed bouquet with mainly citrus, unripe yellow tropical fruit and a hint of stone fruit. Taste / Aftertaste: In the mouth this wine makes a thick-juicy impression, some flint, a little butter. General / Potential: 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / Bouquet: 11 + Taste / Aftertaste: 14 + General / Potential: 8 = 88/100

There is both a négociant and a Domaine bottling of this wine and this is the Récolte du Domaine. It's showing very well. The slightly deeper soils in Les Folatieres deliver a relatively earthy character, but also provide a richness and ripeness of fruit which is very welcome in a vintage like 2011. The spicy oak is well integrated and the finish is complete and convincing. It does not have the finesse and complexity for a really high score, but is was an admirable foil for lemon sole at lunch today.

this bottle was very mature - maybe even a bit over the hill - hope the next one is fresher - slight buttery tones - but lacks freshness for sure
