From the "awful" 2011 vintage comes another rather good wine! This wine is predominantly red fruited on the nose and palate, with a hint of black fruit. The body is medium+, red licorice, red fruit and black cherry with a slightly darker middle. This wine finishes with a lot of black pepper, but also still rather bracing acidity and medium tannin. I was going to hold onto this one for a year or so, but curiosity got me. This bottle seems a little more "red" than the one enjoyed in December. I didn't get the "mountain" fruit character of this wine like I did in the last bottle. Hold for up to another 7-10 years.

Very nice wine. Mountain fruit. Poured with medium density to the glass. Nose was actually a classic Oakville nose of dense black fruit and youthful oak. Smoky. Entry is medium bodied, black cherry tart that gets a little deeper and darker with good acidity to the back. Youthful tannin here with a hint of pepper, not overdone. IMO still needs a few more years to integrate a little more but still a really nice wine.

Blind. Decanted for a couple of hours. Absolutely no nose. Lucious smooth black fruit on the attack but the wine faded extremely fast. I would not decant.
