Some air time (about an hour) helped to blow off some unpleasant nose. Light but pleasing fruit flavors. Big time smoke/smoked meat tastes. Has interesting character which I don't normally see at this price range.

Great pipe smoke flavored nose develops after 30-45 minutes. Fruit-forward, nondescript berry jam. Not thick. Went nicely with all three cheeses I was eating, Humboldt Fog, Morbier, Point Reyes Original Blue.

Paired with bunny chow filled with garlic curried lamb and soetkoekies (spice wine cookies). What a great flavorful wine to go with some hearty "chow". Well worth the price tag.

Beautiful wine, perfect price-quality, wood and tobaco in the beautiful nose, I think from burned wood in which the wine developped, a little fruit and sweet in the nose and taste, soft tanines, good balance in the elements. After an hour more fruit in the taste and nose and less wood and tobacco. I like the beautiful acidity in this wine, like most good South African wines have in Stellenbosch. This experience was in my opinion more old world then new world. I drank this wine with a friend, who brought a more expensive and good Saint Emillion Bordeaux, as reference. The Bordeaux wine was for me a blind tasting experience next to this wine.

A really smoky shiraz. Great when paired with smoked or fire-grilled meats.
