Vintage 2012 Tasting: deeply coloured bright red berry and sherbet zest, tobacco leaf complexity, fine and well integrated oak, silky smooth up front but closes with impressive yet fine tannins, delicious

Still feels like a young wine, very floral and pretty on the nose. Quite sweet fruited, blackberries, cedar and tobacco, eucalypt?? Needs plenty of time in a decanter to come together. Chalky tannins and a long finish, very good depth and a generous palate. Think this will keep improving and no rush to dive in.

Medium ruby/purple, purple rim. On the nose there’s tobacco, herbs, and a red berry perfume that comes through after a couple of hours in the glass. Body is medium, and the palate has a meatiness to it and sour cherry that appears with time in the glass. Length increased as it had time to breathe and open up. Very nice, still well below peak drinking. Recommend 3 hour+ decant right now.

Margaret River Tasting (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): Blackcurrant, cassis, slight pyrazine, slight sweet spice, a touch of meatiness, cream, slight caramel. In the mouth it's juicy, savoury black fruits especially blackcurrant, talc textured tannins persist long, a little alcohol warmth on the finish but this is very silky and quite cabernet correct. Good, balanced and controlled.
