Have been cellaring this since 2007. Solid cork, nothing musty here, decanted 1h before drinking with côte du boeuf. Clear tiny bit of ageing in th colour, but looks like a much younger wine. Nose delicate, classic aged Rioja, nice leathery side note. Still some red fruit, moreish, complex and very drinkable. Tannins fully resolved. Great food wine with family, at or near peak but no hurry.

Juicy, bright with red fruits and at first a drying finish. This is showing its age. Needs a good 30 minutes in a decanter to lose the edge. Then wonderful complexity and soft fruits. Soft cork pushed right into the bottle. Drink up now.

ChrIstmas WIMPS, Pandemonium table (La Trompette, London): Wow, gorgeous nose. Five star. Bright red fruit, a touch of orange peel and the fireside spice element starting to develop. Classic Tondo palate. Nice and bright on the finish. Citrus tingle. Classic. This has filled out and mellowed beautifully in the past seven years. *****

Rating is from previous tasting as this wine is now, sadly, past its prime. Drinkable but flattened out.

Dry, leaky cork and not much there there in the glass.
