  (COTE ROTIE Jaboulet Les Jumelles) UPDATE: Il Poggione Brunello Offers I noted last week that the 2004 Il Poggione Brunello may be the most offered/reacted to wine I've ever witnessed post-Wine Advocate review (outside of the annual Bordeaux rampage). The offers started a few weeks ago when Antonio Galloni hinted that this was one of the top examples of the vintage and they haven't stopped since. I've received so many retailer offers for this wine that I'm sure most consumers have received even more (I'm not even on all of these email lists but somehow they've all found me). As of today... The 2004 Il Poggione Brunello offer count as of July 10th: 47 offers with a price disparity of over $40/bottle I believe this is a record. So far, Wine Exchange, Wine House and Chicago Wine Company lead the way with the lowest prices ($34.99, $35.99 and $37.50 - Woodland Hills is at $39.99 - Emeryville is not even close at $49.99 and dozens of others fall in line after that) but MAKE SURE you inquire about provenance. Price is irrelevant if the provenance is unsound (I know you will ask so...we will not have an offer for this wine). - Jon Rimmerman ********************* 1961 Dear Friends, We offered this wine 2-3 years ago and I've received another allocation directly from the winery cellar (among the last few cases they have) - if the 1966 Jaboulet Chateuaneuf-du-Pape "Grappe des Papes" we sampled last week at the Great Producers Tasting is any indication (from the same winery stock), the clarity, freshness and overall quality should be beguiling. We tasted this Cote Rotie several years ago in NY at one of our Per Se holiday dinners (with the Jaboulet-Isnard label) but this is the real McCoy with the Jaboulet label. 1961 was a legendary vintage at Jaboulet and the Hemritage La Chapelle was not the only success.
