Farewell for now: Served blind to the table, the majority thought it a much younger wine. A touch meaty, spice, rhubarb, sour cherry and a touch of cooling mint throughout - more cola and autumn leaves with time in the glass. Still shows good life on the palate, there is some grip and structure still, along with some impressively fresh red fruit. Definitely best when first poured, but this was as good a showing as could be hoped for this wine.

Quick Notes From a Memorable Night in Sydney (Cirrus, Barangaroo): Served blind. Very hard to call out as a Pinot (I thought Nebbiolo until I saw the screw cap-fitted bottle top; should have acknowledged the lack of tannins, too, oh well). Fresh, perfumed and floral, with a lovely smokiness and fine minerality. So impressive.
