Medium purplish red. Baking spices on the attack of the nose with some mocha, spiced herbs and dark plums. Dark palate with some dark red bramble berries and spices. Moderate plus tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2024.

We opened and poured through a vintorio and drank over three hours. Lots of fruit on the nose, the palate was dark cherry, red currant, plum, cedar and hints of dark chocolate that came out on the moderate to long finish. In a much better place than it was two years ago which was the last time I opened a bottle. 92+. I may go and get some more as it is a really enjoyable wine.

Ahh, good better best. This "good" Malbec was drinking nicely with notes of oak, spice, earth and, dare I even say it, something that could be called garrigue (!). Other reviewers have gone much deeper down the rabbit hole to express themselves but you get the general drift - its a nice bottle.
Often PH's "good" bottlings are the best value from his efforts - He is a really talented wine maker/advisor but he gets caught up in the "better" "best" stuff and prices it off the charts (I think the technical term is "what the traffic will bear") which means his ordinary stuff is actually a decent (note, I did not say great) deal, depending on your tastes. For $60 in a restaurant with a big steak it hit the spot.
