Decanted for an hour while I fixed dinner. Surprising wine. Plums, cassis, tobacco, black cherries, leather and dust. Balanced, with a bit of spice and ready to go from the decanter, we both really enjoyed this wine. Bought some on sale, if I'd have known, I'd have bought more.

Very earthy and herbal and not much fruit at first, but it didn't seem tight so we sipped away thinking that's all there'd be. About two hours in, it blossomed. Black cherry and tobacco came out along with that mocha thing merlot usually does so well. I see the last reviewer also recommends a two-hour decant.

Took about 2 hours of decanting to get going. Muted and hot on opening— just really rough, like to the point where I thought it was an off bottle. However, it finally developed into a beautifully textured wine, with deep cherry fruit, an herbal, minty aspect, and great balancing acidity. Mountainous merlot in volcanic soil seems to be a good idea. Delicious. Either hold this or open well in advance.

Let it air! First taste straight out of the bottle felt as if the bottle was off and it started opening up after a long while..

Drinking great, shows dark fruit and a smooth finish.
