  • NobleRottersSydney - Malbec (Argentina) (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 13.6%} [Aaron] Definitely showing some age now, this offers aromas of pungent sweet strawberries with a leafy aspect. Some black liquorice/oak too; it’s quite a nosefull for eight years! Still tartly fresh on the palate with more cherry, but also tobacco and earth. Spicy oak too. Medium/full-bodied, with medium/high acidity and medium dusty tannins. Finishes with a meaty sort of aftertaste, which is medium length. Quite a bruiser, but without being crude. Might go longer in the cellar, but there’s no need to hesitate.

  • Lovely translucent red, starting to show some developments toward a red-brick colour. On the nose deeper red fruits (strawberry) punctuated by a really attractive secondary character which is a little light roasted meat note and dates and mild spice. On the palate almost cashmere soft, well integrated tannins. Definitely the attractive darker-ripe strawberry theme (but not overly ripe - just so). Perhaps even a touch of grill / smoke. Really good length. Finishes with light and fine baking spices. Extremely enjoyable

  • Appearance: pale garnet.
Nose: medium plus intensity; Aromas of toast, sour cherry, black olive, pomegranate, ginger, toast. It's developing.
Palate: dry, high acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium plus flavour intensity, medium plus finish.
Overall, it's a very good wine. Can drink now, has potential for further ageing (given it's half bottle, it just drinks so well now).
Comparing to Mornington Pinot of perfumed rose water characters, this one has great savoury notes of earth along with sour cherry, pomegranate and ginger spice and toast. Great complexity on both nose and palate. What's really impressive is the flavour intensity and the lingering finish. A great pinot.

  • Drank this last night from a 375ml bottle. Impressive nose as expected from a powerful wine. A spectrum of flavours on the palate with a never ending finish. Quite a bit of tertiary development might be a result of the small bottle. The mid palate fell away a little during the session leaving it a bit thin and acidic, hopefully just an awkward stage in its development.

  • Lovely limpid ruby colour. Rich framboise nose. Violets, geranium. Impressive secondary development. Still very fruited. Sweet, red fruits palate. Elegant smooth tannins. Really luscious.
