  • Wow...already 15-years old but still a beast. Blackberries and dried cherries up front with notes of baking spices, espresso, dried herbs, leather, and dark chocolate. Firm tannins and acidity with an extremely long finish. Dang, this is so good right but will only get better with time.

  • Decanted for 4 hours. Color almost purple. On the nose: Blackberries, espresso, dark cherry and mixed berries. On the palate: Blackberry, baking spices galore, cinnamon, bitter orange zest, dark fruit compote. Extremely long, lush and sensuous. Gritty tannins. This is a beautiful beast of a wine. Needs serious food to be able to stand up to it. I am making Chicken with red wine sauce including anchovies. Let’s see how we do on that. I am buying more of this.

  • Double decanted for 2 hrs, deep ruby, dark fruit with that unique corvina nose, med/firm tannins, long finish; outstanding as it continued to open up with air & time & was as good on day 2. Best bottle yet, drink or hold, no rush (probably will pick up more)

  • Needed every bit of the hour plus decant. Still young and broad with note of coffee, cedar, liqueur and spice. Excellent with steak Florentine. This wine is excessive in every way but still shows balance and finesse. Excellent!

  • Slow ox for 4hrs, then decanted for 2hrs.

Pours dark onyx in the glass, some bricking on the rim. Aromas of cold coffee, cherry liquer, pipe tobacco, mint, dried herbs, amaro/gentian, hot tar, powerful and boozy, the wine just explodes out of the glass.

The wine practically sticks to the glass, looks very oily. In the mouth, the wine is dense, full body, syrupy almost. Med +/+ acid, med tannin- earthy and silty in texture, noticeable alcohol presence in the nose and retronasal. Flavors are of black and red fruits with an almost candy/cough syrup like quality, but in a good way, backed up with a firm acidic bite, followed with those herbal amaro flavors moving to those silty tannins. Finish is long and the tannins fade before the flavor of the wine does. Great length.

Overall, great wine. Still quite youthful and while in a good drinking spot, seems still quite young and in it's early part of the drinking window. Drink with a long decant or hold 10+ yrs.
