Quite a surprise this wine. Beautiful balance some oak on the nose, slight pepper. A dark colour. On the tongue generous fruit, a little tannin, nice smooth easy drinking variety. From Mudgee NSW. Mudgee is inland over The Great Dividing Range ,closer to Newcastle than to Sydney. Robert Oatley owns this vineyard and as many know he also likes sailing....yeh Wild Oats X1 at present regarded by many as one of the fastest ocean going racing yachts in the world , if only it would stop breaking gear. Oh well, I forget how many Sydney to Hobarts he has won but it's a few. I could not taste any salty brine in this mix so thank god it was not made at sea, but it was made 500 metres above sea level. A beautiful wine not expensive.
June 2019.
The wine has not changed much and is still holding up well . I did notice a lift in alcohol so my thought is the wine is beginning to turn and starting to get out of balance. Maybe another six months will see it out.
