  • a revisit with neutral to low expectations… but this delivers and then some. in keeping with my last tasting note, it’s still more on the savoury side (can’t see that changing now) earthy, pungent. with a 2hr decant, the flavour profile has all kinds of amplitude and lots of interest. smoother than i recall from 17 months prior. nicer finish too. this is a real treat at a good price point for a quality wine from ribera. prime drinking now, no need to wait.

  • good posts on this wine so far from a few years ago…
inky dark. viscous, almost oily as it clings to and stains the glass. nose is pungent, of wet leaves, asian spice, plum, rubber. strangely, all of these signs are misleading and don't entirely translate to the palate experience, which is lighter on its feet... bright acidity and quite mineral, gripping tannins take centre stage. there's some fruit but it's more savoury overall. am curious to see how this develops with age but i worry the fruit (that's left) won't last the course of the wine's development as we wait for the tannin to resolve in bottle.

ps more balanced on day2...tannins have retreated somewhat and more fruit is showing through.

  • From memory, relatively rich tempranillo blend, tasted very young and tannic, and promising.

  • Organic, produced 14976 bottles. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, white Albillo. 50 years old vineyards. Low intervention winemaking, no additives and native yeast only. Very young, needs a lot of air and even after hours tannins remains tight and very grippy. The fruit nevertheless is beautifully rich and ripe and juicy, with a load of plum and cherry. Saline minerality, long clean finish. Medium body, perfect acidity. For the cellar.

  • Good structure, young but accessible. No shortage of buttery oak, dark fruit, cloves, allspice. Unmistakably Ribera. Benefits from being served a bit chilled.
